[I can still write stuff.]

In more league news, congrats to Rishi, who not only scored a QFL-nation high 124.25 points in Week 8, but he also pocketed 5 total skins. With all of his defense-STs units on a bye week besides the Lions (that ended up putting up 21 points) and Calvin Johnson’s big 27.7 point day, the only thing preventing Rishi from his big skin payday was his ability to field a valid roster. Way to play a kicker this week Rishi! In other leagues, QFL II’s NOJOQ scored 93.31 and QFL III’s Vote Quimby scored 83.93.

Movers & Shakers QFL week 8 edition.

#1 TenQ (7-1) – In a low scoring week, Tenacious Q’s 80.80 point performance was pretty good, although if not for Witten’s garbage-time TD, Lance Moore’s icing-time TD, and the Cardinals’ defensive TD (who otherwise were torched), the result could have (and possibly should have been) far different. Yet a win is a win, and at 7-1, TenQ is one of the quickest teams to ever clinch a playoff berth. On a more personal note, I wanted to resend Seth a get-well-soon message: Hang in there buddy. Take some penicillin. The rash will clear up in no time.

#2 SOQ (6-2) – With Scott’s crushing 49-43 win over QBC, he (and Seth) are starting to pull away in the race for first round byes. Scott’s Patriot homerism usually gets him in trouble, but he must be thankful that the 20.8 points that BenJarvus Green Ellis left on his bench were not the difference in his sub-50 point grudge match. However, ironically, SOQ’s choice of starting the Bucs D (17 points) over the Pats D (4 points) did preserve him the victory.

#3 OrigQ (4-4) – The good news is that with winning the 5 skins, Rishi basically has paid his dues for the year. The bad news is that the fantasy Gods are still reeling and angered and will smote OrigQ down as payback for the Week 7 illegal starting lineup. Like the NFC West, the QFC West may send the first sub-500 division champion to the playoffs this year.

#4 QBC (5-3) – I am now facebook friends with Tony Romo’s clavicle (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tony-Romos-Clavicle/170114426334542), who just posted “Clavy clav not too good tonight. Going to bed a hot broken mess … Missing T.O.” That cannot be good news for QBC’s fantasy chances during the next 8-10 weeks. With Kitna and Week 8 byes, QBC fielded its best possible roster, and could not have improved on its 43.69 score.

#5 BQP (5-3) – So far, Shades’ squad has been rather suspect notwithstanding his core QBs (Ryan and a surprisingly impressive Fitzpatrick), Peterson, MoJo and defenses. However, if BQP can get its underperforming Jets (Greene and Holmes) to click, watch out for BQP in the playoffs.

#6 FRNQ (3-4) – Each year, the first thing I do after I receive the QFL and NFL schedule is to check to see whether I am playing Ted during the Eagles’ bye week. McD lucked out this year. With McFadden’s reemergence and the Woodhead signing, McD now has the horses to run the wishbone. This comes at exactly the right time since a gimped up Harvin may not play, and if he does, will not have Moss to take away the double team. However, unless Owen Daniels can do anything (1-3 points every game this year except for one 5 point week), McD will need “Orlando” Marcedes Lewis to continue to find the endzone. Considering Lewis has two two-touchdown games this year where he did not catch another reception other than the touchdowns, something tells me that McD may need to find a more reliable TE by trade.

#7 Quince (4-4) – With Randy Moss’s situation, Ted’s only healthy starting bench player is Deion Branch, who barely played in Week 8 with a pulled muscle. Accordingly, it is being reported that Ted is writing at least two “Dear DeSean, I hope your head is feeling better” letters a day in addition to his usual fan mail to the Eagles. Quite clearly, Ted’s opportunity to repeat will depend on whether his squad can survive these bye weeks, injuries, and surprise waivings. However, similar to Donovan McNabb, I am not sure Ted has the cardiovascular endurance to run a two-minute drill anymore.

#8 FahQ (4-4) – This writer was called into duty after an exasperated Shane exclaimed, “After getting crushed by OQ (again), I am in no mood to write about this past weekend.” Keep your chin up dude–it was only an 81 point loss. Plus, you have Cutler and Roddy coming back from a bye.

#9 QTang (3-5) – Just when the Qtang starters start to show a little production, Dallas’ defense quits on the season. At 3-5, it is not over yet, but with Forte and Best owed an additional $12 combined next year, don’t be surprised to see Manning $19, Wayne $23, or both, on the blocks during the next few weeks.

#10 SwineQ (3-5) – Paul ends his five game losing streak on a sour note. Not only could Andre Johnson barely run last night, but SwineQ’s starting QB was not allowed to attempt to lead a two-minute game-tying drive because he is old and out of shape. Oh yeah, and SwineQ’s other starting QB is 41 and was not allowed to finish the game because of an injury other than the multiple broken bones in his foot and ankle. The six game push to salvage the season is still possible, but improbable.

#11 QUnet (2-6) – Due to byes, Barron had to start Minny (-4 points) at New England and I don’t think it’s fair to question him for starting Rodgers over Stafford. If 7-6 makes the playoffs and my calculations are correct, QUNet’s only chance is to win out the next five games.

#12 QU (1-7) – Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy, Rudy. The ghost of Larry Fitzgerald arrived for Halloween, but unfortunately, he did not bring the ghosts of Steve Smith or Chad Ochocinco with him.

<colgroup span="1">
<col span="4" width="64"></col>
</colgroup>

2010 Skins History

Â

Â

Â

Â

Â

1

112.27

QTang

Won

2

105.71

QTang

Won

3

120.41

Quince

Won

4

101.82

OrigQ

Loss

5

105.83

QU

Loss

6

82.89

QBC

Loss

7

82.22

TeNQ

Loss

8

124.25

OrigQ

Won (5)

9

104.43

TO WIN

Â

Seth has to “take a break this week” from writing Movers and Shakers.
