Tree bids will invalidate all bids by that team (McD) reminded Pope Paul in a morning email to his league. His excellency also attempted to explain the off-season tiebreaker policy, which I still don&#8217;t understand after three years of use. \u00c2\u00a0<!--more-->From Pope Paul.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Free agency starts this week. \u00c2\u00a0Please follow these instructions:<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">FA will be handled offline of ASS until the season starts, as in previous years. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Bids must me emailed to the\u00c2\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"mailto:commissionerq@yahoo.com\" target=\"_blank\">commissionerq at yahoo.com<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0account by the deadline.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TREE\/CONDITIONAL BIDDING IS NOT ALLOWED IN PRE-SEASON.<\/span><\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Any conditional bids sent in will void ALL of your bids. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">As in previous years, ties will be broken using the following random number system:<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">1) \u00c2\u00a0A\u00c2\u00a0random\u00c2\u00a0list of 30 numbers from 1-12 will be generated from the website\u00c2\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.random.org\/integers\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.random.org\/integers\/<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0and sent out to the league sometime on Wednesday. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">2) \u00c2\u00a0Each team&#8217;s number will correspond to its team number on A.S.S.<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">3) \u00c2\u00a0Ties will be broken in alphabetical order according to the player in question (last name then first), and each specific tie is broken before we move to the next tie. \u00c2\u00a0The closest team number in a given tie wins, or we move to the next number. \u00c2\u00a0To be fair, numbers 1 and 12 will be considered 1 number away, ie if the number is 12, and teams 1 and 11 are involved, this is a tie. \u00c2\u00a0The same would be the case if the number is 12 and teams 2 and 10 are involved. \u00c2\u00a0This should prevent any given team number from having any advantage. \u00c2\u00a0Here is an example:<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Rishi (team 3) and Paul (team 4) both bid $3 on John Smith<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Shane (team 12) , Jay (team 2) and Seth (team 6) all bid $4 Joe Doe<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">The order of determination would be:<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Joe Doe, John Doe, John Smith<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Tie #1:<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">The number is 12, so Scott would win this tie (10 closer to 12 than 5). \u00c2\u00a0<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Tie #2<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">We move to the second number which is 10. \u00c2\u00a0Rishi (3) is actually closer to 10 than Paul (4) going in reverse so he wins. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">Tie #3<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif; font-size: x-small;\">We go to the third number which is 4. \u00c2\u00a0Jay (2) and Seth (6) tie again but Shane (12) is eliminated. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;
