The third QFL’s Commissioner, General Radeck, is openly discussing the possibility of seceding from QFL Nation over the free agency deadline rule. In his\u00c2\u00a0June 8th\u00c2\u00a0email to the league, Radeck\u00c2\u00a0advocates for several rule changes that would not affect his league’s QFL status (changing payouts, fees and starting a post-season tourney), but buried at the end was\u00c2\u00a0this\u00c2\u00a0doozy.<\/p>\n
-Kicker problem from last year (My solution to this is as follows.\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t believe that you should be able to replace any player at any time after the waiver period is closed but I believe an exception should be in place for kickers.\u00c2\u00a0 It is ridiculous that we have to carry 2 kickers & that that might not even eliminate the problem.\u00c2\u00a0 So if your kicker, and only a kicker, is inactive, cut from the team or injured the commissioner can override the system and replace said kicker.\u00c2\u00a0 A penalty fee of $5 will be assessed to the team making this change.\u00c2\u00a0 This is a fair amount considering that to pick up and waive a player it would be $2 anyway.\u00c2\u00a0 The only problem with this plan is that this would put us in a violation for the super quince tournament because we would have a different set of rules than the other leagues.\u00c2\u00a0 I am willing to bow out of the superquince if this is the case.)<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Never before has a QFL commisioner so brazenly discussed ‘bowing out’ of the QFL rule system and over such a stupid thing as kickers to boot (pun intended). The move may in part be a consiliatory gesture towards one powerful league owner (read partner at Kirkland) that got screwed in the most unlikely way possible when both his kickers (Racker and Carney)\u00c2\u00a0went\u00c2\u00a0down\u00c2\u00a0after the free agency\u00c2\u00a0deadline and cost him the title (theoretically).<\/p>\n
We’ll monitor this situation closely for updates, but at this point, even commissioner Radeck admits response to his email has been quiet. QSN suggested to another owner close to the situation that advocating for a team kicker rule change might be a reasonable and welcome compromise to the Competition Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
