The power of the QB continues to further shape the balance of QFL teams. NFL rules have been angling towards higher scoring and player safety which has led to more and more high scoring receivers and QB’s. It used to take large cojones to make a living in the NFL going across the middle. Now many of the most valuable receivers in fantasy are slot machines: Cobb, Harvin, Welker, Cruz. Add the big bump of TE production across the league and the overall winners are the Fantasy QB’s.

So, as QB’s in QFL leagues as a whole have risen above RB’s in scoring steadily over the past few years can you expect to win enough to make the playoffs without a top QB?

Team rankings:

1) Bombers- (2-0) (158.27) Posting two winning scores to start the season is not just good fortune. Not super elite at WR or DEF is the biggest knock on the roster you can make. RG3 and Russell Wilson at QB is solid. Charles, Morris and Rice with Jimmy Graham at TE makes this the team most able to run the Wishbone Offense. This team is a good bet to post a win worthy score each week.

2) Qonies- (1-1) (179.01) Current scoring leader has the week 2 skin tucked away. Qonies has 3 top choices at QB in Newton, Kaep and Vick. At RB he has McFadden and the Texans tandem……how the Houston backfield sorts itself out this year will have a big impact on this team. Cobb leads the receiving corps of otherwise WR2’s and WR3’s. This team will steadily score average or better with good shots at high scoring weeks.

3)Sooms- (1-1) (170.3) #2 in scoring and the winner of the Week 1 skin, Sooms has Peyton, AP and Seattle’s DEF. You can find plenty of holes in the rest of his roster and if Peyton or AP suffer injuries or have bye weeks he’s plenty beatable. This may not be one of the best rosters top to bottom but it is the one most likely to beat you even if it’s entire supporting cast lays an egg.

4) Membrillos (1-1) (164.71) Typically stocked early in the season with a large roster of inexpensive upside players Membrillos (last year’s Deuce champion) is currently looking a bit less deep than other years at reliable scorers. Ryan at QB, McCoy as RB1 and AJ Green as WR1 makes a good line up foundation every week.

5) Pimps- (1-1) (156.45) Watch out for this team. Brady at QB may not be ideal early in the season (Schaub is his #2) but you know that will come around as weeks go by. Cruz and Marshall have started the season hot at WR and have the right circumstances to keep it going. Pimps has both the Bears and Broncos DEF’s. The weakest link is still his RB’s but he got a nice boost, it appears, by his stud Richardson being traded to the Colts

6) Enemy (1-1) (156.14) Enemy has Matthew Stafford at QB and playmakers Dez Bryant, Reggie Bush and Jordy Nelson. He just added SD’s hot receiver Eddie Royal bidding a whopping $8 in FA this week. Can Spiller overcome the Bills troubles or can Ryan Mathews finally step up to help? Will Montee Ball’s midnight strike early as the Broncos dance with Knowshon? The answers will determine if this is a playoff team.

7) MDW (1-1) (155.73) Has Aaron Rodgers. KC’s defense has been a nice surprise early. He’ll lean on Frank Gore and Chris Johnson and hope Gio Bernard continues his trending. He has reasonable hope but not expectation for production from much of the rest of his roster.

8) NOJOQ (1-1) (155.6) Very solidly built roster for the Deuce Commish. Snickered at for trading Cam Newton before the 2012 draft for the top 2 rookie picks, Rob now has this team anchored by Andrew Luck and Doug Martin as a result. Who’s snickering now? He retained his franchise player, Calvin Johnson, who pairs with another great rookie pick, Julio Jones. The rest is a nice mix of young players with upside. This is more of a playoff team roster than several teams temporarily ranked ahead of him.

9) Turds- (1-1) (149.52) Marshawn Lynch and Demaryius Thomas are the elite players here. Turds is counting on a solid or better year from Romo to produce steady numbers weekly. SJax is nice but already injured. An Eddie Lacy recovery is important to keep this team afloat as depth is a problem already.

10) Catch (1-1) (124.47) Current roster has 5 playable but not fantasy elite QB’s. Eli does get to play Washington and Philly 4 times, Rivers already got to play Philly and still has Washington. So, as streaming options go, pretty good. If MJD cannot improve significantly, this team is leaning on Fred Jackson to run. A deep receiving corps is the strength of this team led by DJax, the emerging DeAndre Hopkins and the currently injured Gronk and Amendola. Catch doesn’t suck but will struggle to beat big scores.

11) Polaq (1-1) (119.77) The current low scorer so far. Drew Brees, Forte, Boldin, Steve Smith, and then several options you wouldn’t like to have to pick from. Ahmad Bradshaw just lost about ALL of his value with the Richardson trade. Ed has some work to do if he is going to get 6+ wins.

12) Quahogs (0-2) (133) Welcome to the new guy. Palmer and Cutler at QB are not ideal, but good solutions for a roster that didn’t have a Franchise QB coming in. Good fortune early on the returns of Moreno and Starks at RB, Sproles leads his stable and both John and the Steelers are banking on the hopes of Le’Veon Bell. Fitz and Welker at WR while rookies develop and Roddy heals. This isn’t the worst roster in the Deuce…..we’ll see how the rookie owner handles this franchise.
