Commissioner Berlage “The Bull” called for a vote on using LeagueSafe and when to hold free agency in two separate emails just after midnight last night.

Berglage on Free Agency.

Now that we have rosters set we need to decide on free agency.

NFL’s 1st game is Thursday, Sept  9.   We could possibly have a free agency day next Wednesday, Sept 1, but it would be by email.  We could then do a waiver pick up on Tuesday, Sept 7 and another free agency on Wednesday, Sept 8……again by email.

I understand the ASS system cannot function prior to the results of week one in the case of a bidding tie.

We may ask the venerable Seth to receive our bids and sort them (or another knowledgeable and disinterested third party).  I’d do it myself but I already have players in mind I want to dump and pick up so I shouldn’t be involved.

We have a few days to figure this out…..in fact we could just skip the first FA period.  The point is just to update rosters prior to opening games due to real team roster cuts.  Why do it twice except to bump up the transaction fees for skin wins?

For simplicity I recommend we go with just one FA period the week of game one and do it one day earlier (Tuesday).  We can have the results Wednesday and make necessary roster cuts after additions before game one.

I know some are chomping at the bit with excitement about the season and would make 10 add/drops in two weeks if we let them.  So if the league wants to try to pull of two transaction weeks instead of one before opening day I need to hear it.
Berlage on paying league dues.

The QFL nation blog has pointed out that we do not employ any fiduciary for league funds.  While QFL, the original, use LeagueSafe we in The Deuce have employed the “Think System” of Professor Henry Hill and the “Trust System” of QFL4……may it rest in peace.

I don’t recall this league having a problem with owners settling up at season’s end and am completely undecided on whether or not we should get money up front.

Start up money for each team is $200 for league entry and $25 for the Super Quince prize pool.  Slaggers fees, transaction fees and fines all add up during the season.  Confident or not every owner should at least be financially prepared to scratch a $300+ check in January if  things go badly for them (or $388 if you’re Josh in 2008).

I’ve been in leagues where douches never paid but it’s never been the case in QFL2.

Please respond to all on this email by voting either “Pay Now” (using LeagueSafe) or “Pay Later” (status quo).  After Friday I will count votes and will break a tie if it exists.

So far the responses have been pretty much along the lines of ‘Berlage you decide’.
