Prior to the Week 5 game: rosters must be reduced to 18 active players by Thursday,
11:59 P.M.
Because Rule 23, Section 1, Article 2 was passed prior to the advent of Thursday night games it is established common law that the deadline is accelerated to be just prior any game being played that day.
And because some one asks every year, the trade deadline is prior to Week 12.
