In an email communication to his League this afternoon, General Radeck expressed his hope to open free agency bidding by tomorrow night. Radeck went on to explain the free agency bidding process using A.S.S., including tree bids.

Bad idea.

In the off-season there is no way for A.S.S. to resolve ties. Then throw in the ability to make tree bids and you have the makings of an administrative nightmare. The first QFL has been doing off-season free agency via email for years for a reason. Radeck is about to find out why.

From Radeck.

I am going to do my very best to put all the players in by tomorrow night.  I would like the system to be up for free agency to run starting Wednesday but I may not have enough time.  I will let you all know by tomorrow morning if I was successful.   Below are the instruction for waivers, free agent bidding & tree bids.

So keep in mind that Tuesdays
are waiver wire day and Wednesdays are free agency day.   What’s the
difference? Waiver wire consists of any player dropped the previous
week, with their salary and contract intact. The team with the worst record has first crack at him. All waiver wire moves should be made by 11:59 on Tuesday.

With free agency highest bid gets the player. tiebreaker is your team’s standing.  Remember, all
players picked up on through free agency are 1st years (L1)

Here are instructions
instructions for free agency bids are different:
1- under manage my team on the left go to “add player – FAAB bid”
2- from the next screen just choose “continue” DO NOT PICK A PLAYER TO
DROP (you have 24 hours after a successful bid to correct your roster).
3- select the player you want from the scroll down menu and choose “add
to list”
4- the player will appear below with a field to enter the salary you
want to bid.  enter the salary and hit “submit my bids”  UNLESS you want
to place what we call a “tree bid”.  that is a bid on multiple players
but you only want one.  for instance if you want to pick up a bye week
fill-in kicker. you have to have a kicker that week so you might want to
bid on more than one in case there is a tie for the kicker you want, but
you dont want to risk not having a kicker.  you can bid on the top 5
kickers with one “tree bid”.

Tree Bids
1 – follow steps 1-2 above
2- from the select a player scroll down list select the player you want
MOST and choose “add to list”.
3- DO NOT select submit bids, instead choose the player you want second
most from the scroll down menu.
4- repeat as often as you want
5- enter the amounts you want to bid in the fields next tot he players
and choose “submit my bids”.  The evaluator program will award players
starting with the player you bid the most on. If you bid an equal amount
on two players, the program will try to award them in the order in which
you select them on the page. You will be given just one player from your
list.

– To delete a free agent bid (or waiver claim) before the evaluator runs
go to “pending trans” under manage my team.
